Founder and Director
Ben Jurin
Architecture has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Growing up around construction gave me an instinctive understanding of how buildings are made and, more importantly, how they should work. That experience continues to influence the way I design today.
I have always been fascinated by space — not simply how a building looks, but how it feels to move through it. The arrival. The changing light. The relationship between spaces. The moment a view is revealed.
For me, great architecture is something you experience.
Designed Around People
My career has given me experience across a broad range of residential and architectural projects.
Early work within Government-funded residential programmes reinforced a principle that remains fundamental to my approach:
Understand the person first. Design the building second.
A significant part of my design process is understanding people. I listen not only to what a client asks for, but to how they live, what inspires them and ultimately how they want their home to make them feel.
Often, my role is to identify opportunities and needs that a client may not yet have considered themselves. By understanding the person behind the brief, I can create a home that feels instinctively right for them — sometimes before they can fully articulate why.
From Construction to Architecture
My route into architecture was grounded equally in design and construction.
Over a 13-year journey to gaining Chartered status, I combined part-time architectural study with professional practice and hands-on experience on building sites.
It gave me an understanding of architecture from both sides of the drawing — how a building is conceived and how it is actually built.
I became fully Chartered in 2013 and developed Ben Jurin Architecture around that understanding: creating homes that respond individually to their client, their site and their surroundings — never a predetermined formula.
Creating the Exceptional
Having completed many residential projects throughout my career, my experience has shaped an approach that considers the complete experience of a home.
Architecture, interiors, landscape, lighting, materials and external spaces should feel as though they belong to one vision.
One project completed in 2022, South Lodge, represents one of the clearest expressions of that philosophy to date.
The 12,605 sq ft private residence was conceived as a completely bespoke family home, using its unusual site, orientation, symmetry and carefully controlled views to create a sequence of experiences throughout the property.
South Lodge was subsequently awarded Best Residential International Home 2023 at the design et al International Design & Architecture Awards.
Without Compromise
I don't believe true luxury is defined simply by size, materials or cost.
Luxury is having the freedom to create something that doesn't already exist.
Every home I design is entirely bespoke to the individual client, their lifestyle and their location. I never reproduce or resell a design for another client.
When you commission a home from Ben Jurin Architecture, the architecture created for you is yours alone.
One client. One unique design. One exceptional home.
For me, that is what bespoke luxury should mean.
One Point of Contact
I understand that for many of my clients, time is as valuable as the home they are creating.
For those who want it, I provide a single point of contact throughout the entire journey. You deal directly with me — not a succession of departments, consultants or project managers.
I coordinate my wider professional and specialist team, manage the flow of information and provide clear updates on design, progress, programme and finances.
The decisions that genuinely require your attention are brought directly to you.
Whether it's a design decision, project update, programme matter or invoice, you can have one relationship and one conversation — with me.
My role is to understand your ambitions, protect your time and make an inherently complex process feel remarkably simple.
Your home may be complex. Your experience of creating it shouldn't be.
Built On Trust
Designing a significant private home is an incredibly personal journey.
The relationship between architect and client can last for years, which is why I place enormous importance on trust, integrity and a shared ambition to create something exceptional.
My clients entrust me not only with their home, but with their time, their investment and often a very personal vision of how they want to live.
I take that responsibility seriously.
Beyond Boundaries
Ben Jurin Architecture is structured to deliver exceptional residential architecture both in the UK and internationally, working collaboratively with clients, consultants and specialist teams wherever a project takes us.
Our approach is not defined by geography. Whether responding to a coastline, a mountain landscape or an exceptional urban setting, the same principles remain — understanding the client, understanding the place and assembling the right team to deliver the vision.
Every site presents a different opportunity. Every client brings a different ambition.
Wherever in the world you choose to build, the opportunity is the same — to create a home that could exist nowhere else, for no one else.
